Luray Caverns in July

This past summer, my oldest child was away for an agricultural engineering camp. Whilst the oldest one experienced new and fascinating opportunities, we decided to explore more of Virginia’s natural wonders with my second child and newborn son. It’s incredible that I haven’t visited Luray Caverns since I was in grade school. The same was with my husband. The caverns are not far to get to and are renowned around the world.

My oldest son, the second child, had some idea about the caverns but was completely wowed once we stepped through the entrance. All of us were amazed by the stalagmites and stalactites of the underground mountain caves. There was a pool with a perfect reflection of the stalactites. So many of the ground and ceiling structures created fascinating illusions. Towards the end of the walk, we even heard the sounds of the Great Stalacpipe Organ.

Here are some photos of that magical day.

It was only a day trip, but I’d consider a weekend in the area to explore longer and discover other trails.
